HIMALAYAN STORIES

Stories have the power to connect us, to help us understand ourselves better, and to inspire us. Through candid interviews and compelling imagery, sharing stories can bring us closer together and help us see the world from a new perspective.

You don't have to say anything. You don't have to teach anything. You just have to be who you are: a bright flame shining in the darkness of despair, a shining example of a person able to cross bridges by opening your heart and mind.

Our Mission: Himalayan Stories is dedicated to capturing the essence of the diverse Himalayan region through the lens of nuns and monks trained in videography. By empowering them with visual storytelling skills, we aim to preserve and share the captivating narratives of this unique area, enriching cultural heritage fostering understanding, spirituality, and personal growth.

I've been working with the nuns at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling for about a year and a half and have watched them develop in learning how to use the tools of video production to tell a story as well as developing confidence in themselves and their communication skills. Tsoknyi Rinpoche is very pleased with the work we're doing.

They see the problems in the world and feel that Buddhism offers some answers to people that are suffering. Using media they'd like to share what they know and be of help to those in need.

The nuns are delightful in their enthusiasm displaying creativity, an astounding ability to work together along with a warmth and caring that I have not encountered elsewhere.

Our program focuses on providing the necessary training and equipment to enable these storytellers to effectively convey the beauty, traditions, and stories of the Himalayas through compelling visual content that has the potential to resonate with people around the world.

Learning the art of making meaningful videos
         by Paul MacGowan

I've created a handbook to facilitate my work with the nuns at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling and for others to use who want to learn about making meaningful videos. It delves deeply into storytelling, interviewing, and the important questions you need to ask yourself to get started among many other topics.

Our video storytelling workshops provide nuns and monks with the skills and tools needed to craft compelling narratives through videography. Participants learn the art of visual storytelling, editing techniques, and how to effectively convey the essence of the Himalayan region through their videos.

Our Core Values

At Himalayan Stories, we are committed to spreading Buddhadharma, authenticity, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. Our core values drive every project and initiative we undertake, ensuring that our visual storytelling remains genuine, impactful, and respectful of local traditions and beliefs.
